About the Scarlet Curtain
2018 is our 11th year as a seasonal gently used costume superstore. Nancy Horner, owner of The Scarlet Curtain gathers costumes throughout the year from many sources including theaters, thrift stores, garage sales, retail liqidations and more. We have several costume designers that bring several hundred creations in each year. Nancy and her sister, Susi, launder, repair, modify and create costumes throughout the year to add to our stock.
You will find gently used ready-made Halloween Store, theatrical creations, vintage and unique clothing and every accessory needed to complete your work.
About the owner Nancy Horner
Nancy Horner
Nancy Horner has been creating costumes for Opera, Theater and corporate events since 2006. A life time of sewing and crafting combined with a unique combination of creativity and resourcefulness laid the stage for Nancy to launch her career in costume design. Her years of experience as an accountant, property manager, business owner, mother and homeschool teacher developed good planning, organizational and people skills so important to meeting the challenges of costuming for stage. She is adept at energizing and utilizing a paid or volunteer staff to assist with costuming.
Nancy is commited to providing quality costumes using cost effective means to make the most out of the budget available. She is capable of creating amazing items from the simplest materials but most often begins a costume with a high quailty garment found while treasure hunting at local thrift stores. This saves time and money that can be directed to the costumes and details that are most important in telling the story and portraying the director's vision.
